Earworm Of The Day: Fire Meets Gasoline
Hey, earworms are back! I’m not sure whether to celebrate or not.
Today I woke up with Sia’s “Fire Meet Gasoline” running through my head. Seems like an appropriate choice, since things seem to be going up in flames all around us.
As with so much else, I came to Sia fairly late. Sometime during the pandemic I read (I have no idea where anymore) that no one singe like Sia, and for some reason I needed to find out then a there whether this was true or not. The quote was in reference to her hit “Chandelier,” so I grabbed 2014’s 1000 Forms Of Fear album and fell in love with almost every one of its songs immediately.
One of the supposedly sure ways of getting rid of an earworm is to listen to the song all the way through, which I did on my way to work. Spoiler: it does not always work.
Coming soon: an article on the science (and myths) of earworms.
